The Big Announcement!

me at 20 weeks!

me at 23 weeks!

I am not the most faithful blogger, but in case you didn't know, Andy and I are expecting a baby girl in March! Right now, I am 23 weeks along. Our first suspiscion that we were pregnant was when we went to Destin, Florida for our "mini" vacation. I was sooooooo tired and I got sea sick when we went on our dolphin cruise.
When we got home, I took about three tests, and they were all positive. When I told Andy, it took a second for it to sink in, and then we couldn't stop smiling. I was pretty sick throughout the summer, but it started fading away at about sixteen weeks. It has been so fun feeling her kick and learning about what phase she is in. It is also really fun, because so many people in my family are expecting as well. Amber and David are having a boy in December, Andy and Iare having a girl on March 11th, Adam and Heather are having a boy on March 12th, D.J. and Kristin are expecting a baby in April (I think), and Sommer and Tim are having a little one in June. We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives!

Anniversary in Destin

June 25 of this year was an important day for us. We have been married one year! Time has really flown by. Andy has been working so much, and he wasn’t able to take the day off, but we got to celebrate the day after. .. right after we moved.

We moved from Jackson, Mississippi to Mobile, Alabama. We love Mobile!!! Besides the humidity, everything about this place is great. Our apartment is clean and new. There are places nearby to get groceries. We feel safe… I don’t think anybody would say the same about where we were in Jackson.

After we moved (the drive was about 2 hours), Andy was feeling a little bit sick, but we decided to go ahead with our trip to Destin (another 2 hours away). It was a super pretty drive, but I don’t think Andy enjoyed it. He was sleeping most of the way. We got to our hotel that was right on the beach with a beautiful view and just rested.

We started off our next day shopping. That always makes me happy. Then we went on a dolphin cruise. I think we saw about 10 dolphins. We probably would have seen more, but I got a little bit sea sick and had to sit inside. Our favorite part of the cruise was when the captain of the boat said, "Remember, Jesus loves you." We both really like how people talk about Jesus so much here. Then we spent a couple of hours on the beach. We saw some dark shape in the water and Andy said that it was a shark. If you know me, then you know that I am terrified of sharks… and a lot of other things. I made a little bit of a scene crawling up Andy’s back, and it only turned out to be a piece of seaweed. Later we went to dinner at a place called “Dewey Destin.” That is where all of the locals eat. It was a ramshackle little place right on the pier with commercial fishing boats all around. When you looked through the floorboards, you could see the ocean.

We had so much fun, but the best part was just spending time with my husband. I feel so lucky that I married my best friend.

Mississippi

Amber, Maylie, Heather, Me, Kate, Natalie, and Gracie with our blueberries.

Andy and I decided to go to Jackson, Mississippi for the Summer to work. Well, Andy would work, and I would pack his lunches. So far it has been pretty great. Andy has been selling security systems, and he has stated several times how much better he likes this compared to school. I think that means that he doesn't like school very much, because this job isn't very fun.

This past Saturday, Andy sold three security systems in one day!!!!! He was taking a while talking to the customer, so the van full of salesmen were waiting outside of the house to pick him up. After he came out, he was jumping up and down, pumping his fists, and yelling at the guys in the van. I think he may have scared his customer, but was so excited. Anyone who knows Andy knows that he is not lacking in enthusiasm.

While Andy has been busy working, I have been busy having a good time. Amber, my sister, and Heather, my sister-in-law, have been my little buddies. We try to go on little field trips with my nieces almost every day. So far, we have been to Vicksburg to see the lamest Coca-Cola museum ever, the splash park, and the Mississippi Children's Museum. Isn't that what most twenty-six-year-olds without kids do? Oh! We have also done a lot of shopping....Probably too much.

My favorite activity has been picking blueberries in Meridian, Mississippi. Amber, Heather, and I decided to make the hour-and-a-half drive. We followed my G.P.S., and it took us down dirt and gravel roads, past wild turkies (I think that's what they were), and past a bunch of cute "Southern" homes. When we got there, we picked blueberries for over an hour, and each of us ended up with about 6 pounds of berries. We have been eating them all week. We have had blueberry muffins, blueberry pinwheels, blueberry German pancakes, blueberries with whipped cream (we call it the Crapo Special), and lots of blueberry smoothies. I haven't gotten sick of them yet:)

On the Way home from Meridian, Heather and I were chatting and laughing. As I pulled off of the highway, I started screaming as an unrecognized animal came in front of our car. Heather started screaming because she thought someone was about to mug us. Then I ran over what looked like a giant rat (I later found out it was a possum). We had to take a minute to get our bearings, but it was pretty funny... screaming like idiots over a possum. Possums must be pretty tough, because he wandered off after I hit him. Hopefully, he is ok.

So far, we have had a great time. Next week, we are going to be moving to Alabama! Both of us are excited about experiencing more of the South!

Football

I know that it is still April but as soon as basketball season gets close to the end I think about football. I have enjoyed reading all about BYU and Utah football as of late because there are so many changes that are going down this year. I am pretty sure that everyone is familiar with what is changing with both programs this coming year, except there are always those who either live under a rock or could care less. I am excited for BYU going independent and also I am pretty excited to see Utah play in the PAC 12. Both programs will be making changes in their offensive schemes because of BYU hiring Brandon Doman as O.C. and Utah hiring Norm Chow as O.C. (former BYU coach for 29 years). The changes taking place will consist of BYU going back to the 1980's passing attack that will feature QB under center more and the TE in a 3 point stance. Utah will be going under center as well with some more down hill running. With both teams using less of the shotgun formation they will be able to be less predictable in their run/pass options. Jake Heaps has shown much improvement and will be going deep to two very good wide receivers in Ross Apo and Cody Hoffman while Dirty Mustache Jordan Wynn has had a bummed shoulder and is probably staining his shorts because he has never had the opportunity to throw anything other than a ten yard slant. I am very interested to see how Heaps progresses this year, how BYU will do vs the big boys (Ole Miss, Texas, Oregon St., TCU, and Utah), if Utah can do well in the PAC 12, how Wynn does in the Norm Chow style offense, and if either team runs the table and has a perfect season. I expect great things to come and I cannot wait for September 17!
